About
Dr. Jessica Gold is a social scientist pursuing research at the intersection of organizations, inequality, and big data. Her previous research has primarily focused on gender and racial inequality in scientific careers, particularly in academic STEM fields, utilizing computational text analysis, social network analysis, statistical modeling, and qualitative interviews. She is currently the Consulting Scientist for the Panel on AI and Economic Inclusion for the International Panel on the Information Environment (IPIE), where she is working with a team of international experts to draft systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and policy reports to inform equitable policy and community response across finance, education, employment, healthcare, and related domains. She is also working on several research projects that study equity in higher education, including a collaboration with an international research team based in Berlin, which investigates beliefs about meritocracy and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) programming on university campuses in the US, UK, and Germany. She recently worked as an Associate Research Scientist at Northeastern University with PIs Kathrin Zippel and Laura K. Nelson, studying knowledge dissemination in a multi-institutional network of gender equity scholars. In 2023-24, she was an ARC Visiting Virtual Scholar, producing a meta-analysis report for STEM equity professionals. She received a PhD in Sociology from the University of California, Davis, and a BA in Sociology from the College of William and Mary. Outside of work, Dr. Gold spends as much time as possible rock climbing, backpacking, or pursuing other adventures.
